This is the class sign up for Thursday, September 2nd. Like always, this class is restricted to those who finished the MKdF Beginner's Class.  In order to participate, you must be vaccinated and read and agree to our COVID-19 waiver (one time). This will be a one time class only taught by guest instructors Wendy Marques and Jeff Jacobson from Tattershall School of Defense! Wendy is a former Maryland KdFer and we'll be so pleased to have her back! This class will delve into the second book of Joachim Meyer's 1570 "Gründtliche Beschreibung der Kunst des Fechtens" or "The Art of Combat" which covers dussack. The dussack is, most notably, a training weapon for all single handed weapons, but also a sword in its own right. This one day class will cover all the basic cuts and guards of Meyer's dussack.  At the end of the class, we have a very special tournament where you can use your newfound skills in dussack! There will be prizes for 1-4th places and there is an optional, but encouraged charity donation! All the proceeds will go to fund a memorial and recovery fund for a Tattershall member who recently passed at a young age of cancer, tragically leaving behind her husband and 5-year-old son.

This is the class sign up for Monday, August 16th. Like always, this class is restricted to those who finished the MKdF Beginner's Class.  In order to participate, you must be vaccinated and read and agree to our COVID-19 waiver (one time). This class will be an introduction to the saber system of F.C. Christman. It is a Hessian military saber system comprising elements of Napoleonic French, Bolognese, German Military, and German Academic fencing styles. With a focus on footwork and fighting entirely from one hanging guard, this class will be progressive in nature and require students to attend consistently, learn German commands, and be ready for paired drills and exercises. The manual is not available in English, but materials to aid in the class will be provided in English. These materials will be posted in the MKDF saber study group page, which you are encouraged to join. If you have any questions, please ask Christian in class. As per usual, any student that signs up for this class must have completed Maryland KdF's beginner longsword class and be a paying member of the club! Additionally, you must comply with all other COVID-19 precautions as outlined by the club (signing the waivers and achieving full vaccination).
