COVID-19: You are required to be fully vaccinated to join this class.   Full vaccination is defined by getting the full regimen of shots (Pfizer/Moderna = 2, J&J = 1) and receiving at least one booster shot. You will be required to present your CDC vaccination card on the first day of class as proof. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Highland Broadsword II builds on the concepts introduced in the Introduction to Broadsword class and uses multiple broadsword sources to provide a deeper understanding beyond the simple parry / repost actions most often encountered in broadsword fights. Topics covered will include using shift and traverse footwork to control measure, proper employment of feint actions, and creating a variety of attack combinations using various cutting actions. This will be an 8 week course that will also serve as an entry point into other Highland weapon combinations such as Broadsword and Targe and Broadsword and Dirk, among others. Although not the primary class focus, successfully using this system in tournament settings will be discussed throughout the course. Note: Completing the Intro to Broadsword is helpful but not a requirement for taking Highland Broadsword II. Gear requirements: Mask and gloves are required. Jackets and full protective gear are mandatory when sparring. Broadswords, sabers and spadroons will work for this class. A limited number of synthetic broadswords will be available. Please tip your swords!
